CURWENSVILLE CLAIMS SECOND STRAIGHT AML SOUTH TITLE
![]() BROCKWAY Curwensville (6-1) took a huge step toward returning to the District 9 Class A playoffs and defending its title from a year ago and at the same time clinched its second straight AML South title with a 27-7 win over Brockway (5-2) that all but officially clinched a playoff spot for the Golden Tide. With the win and the AML South Title, the Golden Tide will play in the AML Championship game in two weeks against Smethport. Curwensville raced out to a 13-0 halftime lead before Brockway closed the gap to 13-7 with a late fourth-quarter touchdown. The Golden Tide, though, pulled away with two late fourth-quarter scores. It was the Golden Tide passing attack that did most of the damage on the night, as quarterback Jim Thompson passed for 174 yards and two touchdowns completing six of 12 passes. Mark Records caught all six passes for 170 yards and both scores. Curwensville got the scoring started with 1:10 left in the first quarter when Records caught a 6-yard touchdown pass. Cory Bailors extra point gave the Golden Tide a 7-0 lead. A 4-yard run by Keegan Prisk with 7:52 left in the first half upped the Curwensville lead to 13-0 at halftime. The score remained 13- 0 until 3:35 remained in the game. That is when Trenton Marnati scored on a 4-yard run to cut the Golden Tide lead to 13-7. But just moments later, Records caught a tipped ball and went 78 yards for his second touchdown reception of the game and a 20-7 Curwensville lead with 3:00 left in the game. Then with 1:47 left in the game Ryan Bilger broke free for a 51-yard run and a 20-point Curwensville lead.
